Police Launch Multi-Team Probe into Horana Bank Heist

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police have launched a major investigation into a daring cash robbery that took place outside a state bank in Horana, deploying three police teams to track down the suspect involved.

Police Spokesman Assistant ASP F.U. Wootler stated that a sum of Rs. 35 million was stolen by an individual in what is being described as a bold daylight incident.

The theft occurred at around 2:45 p.m. yesterday, when two bags containing cash were taken out of the bank to be transported to two separate bank branches.

According to police, at that moment, a suspect who had approached the scene on foot managed to snatch both bags containing the cash and flee the area within seconds.

Investigations are ongoing, with authorities working to identify and apprehend the suspect.
