Police Sergeant Nabbed for Drug Distribution

COLOMBO (News 1st); A police sergeant has been arrested for allegedly distributing narcotics on behalf of a Dubai-based drug trafficker known as Russell Smith, police confirmed.

The arrest was made by officers from the Western Province North Crimes Division.

The suspect, currently attached to the Udappuwa Police, was taken into custody with 400 grams of heroin in his possession.

Investigations have revealed that the officer had previously served for nearly five years with the Colombo Crimes Division.

Acting on information obtained from the suspect, police also arrested another individual identified as Chathu, a resident of Peliyagoda, with 110 grams of heroin.
