COLOMBO (News 1st); The National Transport Commission (NTC) announced that bus fares will not be reduced despite the recent drop in diesel prices.
NTC Chairman P.A. Chandrapala stated that a fare revision requires at least a 4% reduction in diesel prices.
However, the latest price adjustment reflects only a 1.58% decrease, which does not meet the threshold for a fare change.
Diesel prices were reduced by Rs. 6 per litre in both August and September.
Following the latest revision, the current price of a litre of diesel stands at Rs. 277.
