Police Probe Shootings In Grandpass And Maradana

COLOMBO(News 1st); Police say three teams have launched investigations into the shootings that took place in Mahawatte,Grandpass and Panchikawatte, Maradana.

According to police, one person was killed and another injured in the incidents.

A 26-year-old man from Kelaniya died in the shooting near the Mahawatte clock tower in Grandpass, which happened around 11:30 last night.

Police said two unidentified men on a motorcycle opened fire with a revolver and then fled the scene.

Meanwhile, another shooting took place around 1:30 this morning in Panchikawatte, Maradana where one person was injured.

Police said two men on a motorcycle fired a revolver and escaped.

The injured person, a 44-year-old resident of Panchikawatte, has been admitted to the National Hospital for treatment.
