Final Rites of Ella Bus Crash Victims In Tangalle

COLOMBO(News 1st); The bodies of those who died in the Ella bus accident have been placed at the Tangalle Town Hall for final rites.

They were brought to Tangalle last night following post-mortem examinations.

A large crowd, including members of the Maha Sangha, has gathered at the Town Hall.

The bodies will be handed over to their families after religious rituals held this morning.

The death toll from the accident stands at 15.

Dr. Palitha Rajapaksa, Director of the Emergency Unit at Badulla General Hospital, said that 19 people injured in the accident are currently receiving inpatient care.

Among the deceased, 12 were officers of the Tangalle Municipal Council.

Meanwhile, Chairman P.P.G. Nandasiri said the final rites for all victims will be conducted under the leadership of the Tangalle Municipal Council.
