COLOMBO(News 1st);One person has been killed and another injured in four shootings reported in the past 12 hours.
The incidents were reported from Kuttiduwa, Negombo, Pamunugama, Grandpass–Mahawatta, and Panchikawatta,Maradana.
A house in Kuttiduwa, Negombo, was shot at around 1.40 a.m. today. Police said two men on a motorcycle carried out the shooting. A bullet was recovered from the scene, though no injuries were reported. Police believe the incident was linked to a financial dispute.
Another shooting took place at around 9.30 a.m. today at a shop on Tissa Mawatha, Alubomulla, Pamunugama. Police said two men on a motorcycle carried out the attack using a 9 mm firearm.
Meanwhile, a 26-year-old youth from Kelaniya was killed in a shooting near the Mahawatta Clock Tower in Grandpass last night. Police said two unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire with a revolver before fleeing.
In a separate incident, a man was injured in a shooting at around 1.30 a.m. today in the Panchikawatta of Maradana. According to police, two men on a motorcycle opened fire with a revolver and fled.
Police said investigations into all four shootings are underway.
