Wellampitiya Shooting: Getaway Vehicle Traced to Gonapola Man

COLOMBO (News 1st); Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the recent shooting incident in Wellampitiya, for allegedly providing the motorcycle used by the gunmen.

The suspect, a 30-year-old resident of Gonapola, was taken into custody after investigations revealed his involvement in supplying the vehicle. Police stated that the motorcycle was later found abandoned in the Mulleriyawa area.

The shooting occurred in the early hours of August 25 in the Kittampahuwa area of Wellampitiya, where three individuals arrived and opened fire targeting a person staying at a local lodging facility. Fortunately, no injuries or property damage were reported.

The Nugegoda Division Criminal Investigation Unit has launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident to identify all parties involved and determine the motive behind the attack.
