COLOMBO (News 1st); President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will inaugurate a series of new development initiatives in Jaffna, aimed at enhancing infrastructure, public services, and regional connectivity.
Among the key projects is Phase III of the development of the Myliddy Fisheries Harbour, which is expected to benefit fishing communities not only in the Northern Province but also in the Eastern and Southern regions.
The upgraded harbour will provide essential services such as water, electricity, and fuel for fishing vessels arriving from across the country.
The President will also preside over the opening of the Jaffna Regional Office of the Department of Immigration and Emigration, improving access to vital administrative services for residents in the region.
In a move to modernize education and information access, the Jaffna Public Library’s e-library program will also be launched. This initiative allows users from anywhere in the world to access the library’s collection online, marking a significant step in digital inclusion.
Later in the day, the President is scheduled to inaugurate the construction of the proposed Jaffna International Cricket Stadium, a landmark project aimed at promoting sports and tourism in the region.
