Factory Worker Dies Alone as Colleagues Were Away on Outing

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Labour Department has initiated an investigation into the death of a factory worker who was fatally injured after being caught in machinery at an industrial facility in Makola, Sapugaskanda.

The inquiry was launched under the directive of Deputy Minister of Labour, Mahinda Jayasinghe. The investigation is being carried out by the Gampaha office of the Labour Department.

Police have also commenced a parallel investigation into the incident.

The deceased has been identified as a 35-year-old man from Ratnapura. 

Reports indicate that on the day of the incident, most factory employees were away on a recreational outing, leaving no one present to assist the victim at the time of the accident.
