COLOMBO (News 1st) - The National Water Supply and Drainage Board has announced that there will be no water cuts from April 11 to 14.
Chairman of the Board Chandana Bandara said that, although a 24-hour water cut was initially planned until April 10 for Padukka, Homagama, Pelanwatta, and Pannipitiya divided into four zones—steps have now been taken to reduce the cuts to 18 hours.
Under the revised schedule, an 18-hour water cut was implemented in Padukka yesterday, will affect Homagama today, and will cover Pelanwatta and Pannipitiya tomorrow.
The Chairman added that efforts will be made to further reduce the 18-hour period wherever possible.
The scheduled system for water supply was introduced for several areas in the Colombo District due to the rapid decline in the water level of the Kalatuwawa Reservoir.
The Board also stated that water supply to Battaramulla, Pamankada, Wellawatta, and Nawala will be suspended for three hours daily, from 10 pm to 1 am, on alternate days.
