CID Delays Questioning of Ex-Presidential Secretary

COLOMBO (News 1st); Former Presidential Secretary Saman Ekanayake has been informed not to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today (1), despite a prior summons issued for a statement.

The CID had initially scheduled Ekanayake to provide a statement today in connection with an ongoing investigation involving former President Ranil Wickremesinghe. The inquiry pertains to allegations of misusing Rs. 16.6 million in public funds for a private overseas visit.

He had previously appeared before the CID on August 5, where he was questioned for nearly six hours regarding the same matter.

On August 4, Sandra Perera, a former private secretary to President Wickremesinghe, was also questioned by the CID for over six hours in relation to the same investigation.
