Three Suspects Nabbed Over Deadly Ambush

COLOMBO (News 1st); Three suspects have been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting and assault that occurred in the Wennappuwa area.

Police stated that they have taken into custody a revolver-type firearm suspected to have been used in the shooting, a sword, and the vehicle involved in the incident.

According to reports, three individuals arrived in a car and attacked two men who were traveling on a motorcycle. The assailants used sharp weapons and opened fire, resulting in the death of one individual.

Police further revealed that the second victim sustained serious injuries from the bladed weapons and has been admitted to Marawila Hospital for treatment.

The deceased has been identified as a 35-year-old resident of Lunuwila.

The injured individual, aged 36, is currently receiving treatment at Marawila Hospital.

Both victims had reportedly visited the Wennappuwa Police Station to sign bail documents related to a High Court order. They were attacked while returning on a motorcycle.

Police confirmed that three separate investigation teams have been deployed to probe the incident.
