STF Honors Fallen Heroes in 41st Commemoration

COLOMBO (News 1st); The 41st War Heroes Commemoration Ceremony of the Police Special Task Force (STF) will be held today near the STF War Memorial at the Katukurunda Training School, with the participation of Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasooriya.

Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security, retired Senior Deputy Inspector General Ravi Seneviratne, is also expected to attend the event.

On a day like today, September 1st, back in 1984, a group of our officers were engaged in an operation in the Tikkam area of Jaffna when they came under a brutal terrorist attack. Four officers lost their lives in that incident. Since then, the STF commemorated their sacrifice every year, and today marks the 41st such remembrance.

During the 30-year-long conflict, 464 STF officers laid down their lives for the country.
