COLOMBO (News 1st); Former Presidential Secretary Saman Ekanayake has been summoned for the second time to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today.
Police stated that the summons is related to an ongoing investigation involving former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, concerning allegations of misusing Rs. 16.6 million in public funds for a private overseas visit.
Saman Ekanayake is scheduled to appear before the CID this morning.
He was previously summoned on the 5th of August, where he reportedly provided a statement to the CID for nearly six hours in connection with the same investigation.
On the 4th of August, Sandra Perera, a former private secretary to ex-President Ranil Wickremesinghe, was also questioned by the CID for over six hours.
