Firearm License Applications Open Today (1)

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Defence has announced that the issuance of firearm licenses for the upcoming year begins today (1).

The process will continue until December 31, after which no applications will be accepted without penalties.

Applications for firearm licenses can be obtained through the official website of the Ministry of Defence.

The Ministry emphasized that possessing a firearm without a valid license is a punishable offense.

In addition, the registration and renewal process for private security agencies for the years 2026 and 2027 also begins today. This process will similarly conclude on December 31.

The Ministry further stated that late renewals after the deadline will be subject to penalties and possible legal action.
