COLOMBO (News 1st); IGP Attorney-at-Law Priyantha Weerasuriya says several plans are underway to arrest organized criminals operating abroad.
IGP Priyantha Weerasuriya stated that recent criminal activities, including shootings, have been brought under control, with suspects arrested and legal action underway.
He said investigations have revealed that many operations were planned from overseas, adding that 32 individuals have already been brought back to Sri Lanka, including a key suspect repatriated last night.
He further noted strong international cooperation, stating that foreign authorities have commended Sri Lanka’s legal and policing processes, allowing continued efforts to track down and extradite suspects, with more plans to be introduced.
He made these remarks during a visit to the Malwathu and Asgiri Mahanayake Theros this morning to seek blessings for the New Year.
