Police Heroes Day Commemorated In Sri Lanka

COLOMBO(News 1st); The 162nd Police Heroes Day was celebrated this morning.

The ceremony was held at the Police Heroes Memorial at the Police Field Force Headquarters under the patronage of IGP Priyantha Weerasuriya.

Police Heroes Day was declared to remember the death of a police officer on this day in 1864, after a follower of Utuwankande Saradiel shot him.

So far, 5,789 police officers have died in the line of duty, and 1,633 have been disabled.
