Sri Lanka Nets 950 Suspects in 24-Hour Crime Blitz

COLOMBO (News 1st); In a 24-hour operation that concluded this morning at 12:30 AM, authorities arrested a staggering 950 suspects in a major crackdown on crime. 

This operation was part of the nation-wide crackdown on drugs and crimes code-named Operation Yukthiya.

While 42 suspects were held under detention orders, 28 individuals were identified for rehabilitation.

Additionally, 68 of the apprehended individuals were already on a registered list of the Police Narcotic Bureau and the Police Special Bureau, suggesting a targeted effort against known offenders.

Furthermore, four suspects were deemed worthy of initiating investigations into their illegal assets.

The operation also yielded significant results in the fight against drug trafficking. Security forces successfully seized a 296 grams of heroin and 194 grams of ICE or Crystal Meth.
