699 suspects apprehended during special operations carried out across theIsland

COLOMBO (News 1st) - 699 suspects involved in smuggling drugs have been apprehended by the police in special operations carried out across the island, to combat crime.

The suspects were apprehended during 700 operations carried out yesterday.

14 among the suspects apprehended were identified as women.

Police says that 20 others have been detained for interrogation.

Investigations are to be carried out on eight other suspects in regards to illegal assets.

468 suspects were apprehended in the Western Province.

During the operations Police seized drugs such as Heroin, Cannabis and Ice in posession of the suspects.
