DIG Issues Strict Warning On Traffic Law Compliance For Avurudu Festivals

COLOMBO (News 1st): Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police for Traffic Control and Road Safety, W.P.J. Senadheera, has instructed organizers of New Year festivals to strictly adhere to existing laws when organizing events, including bicycle races.

He stated that authorities are closely monitoring whether event organizers and those supporting these competitions are violating traffic regulations.

DIG Senadheera further revealed that by the end of yesterday, approximately 23 complaints had been received via the WhatsApp number introduced last week for the public to submit photos or videos of traffic violations. He noted that out of those reports, legal action has already been initiated against 12 individuals.
