Final Rites of Slain Lawyer and Spouse Today

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The final rites for Lawyer Buddhika Mallawarachchi and his spouse, who were tragically shot dead in Akuregoda, Thalangama, are scheduled to take place today. 

The burials will be held at the family cemetery later today.

The remains were placed at a private funeral parlor in Borella yesterday morning for the public to pay their last respects before being transported to their residence in, Pitigala, last evening.

Following investigations police have arrested four suspects for allegedly aiding and abetting the double murder.

The suspects are accused of providing lodging to the gunmen, transporting firearms, and supplying narcotics.

Furthermore, the motor car suspected to have been used by the assassins which was found set on fire in Baddegama is set to be produced before the Government Analyst for investigations.

The fatal shooting occurred on the 13th of February in Akuregoda. 

Police say the incident was orchestrated by the organized criminal known as "Karandeniya Sudda."

Notably, the deceased lawyer had previously represented Karandeniya Sudda in several court cases.

Currently, 12 police teams are deployed to apprehend the primary suspects involved in the killing.
