Sanjeewa Dharmaratne Named Acting IGP

COLOMBO (News 1st); Senior Deputy Inspector General Sanjeewa Dharmaratne has been appointed as the Acting Inspector General of Police, effective today.

He is currently the Senior DIG in-charge of the Western Province.

Police Spokesperson ASP F.U. Wootler confirmed that the appointment was made following the overseas travel of IGP Attorney-at-Law Priyantha Weerasooriya.

The decision received approval from President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. Priyantha Weerasooriya is expected to return to the country on November 17.
