COLOMBO (News 1st); Three Sri Lankans accused of serious crimes back home have been arrested in India by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) in Bengaluru.
According to Indian media reports, the suspects were found illegally residing in a luxury apartment near Devanahalli, Bengaluru.
Authorities suspect the trio had been hiding in India for quite some time.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Iresh Hansaka from Ratmalana, Sugath Sameendu from Kotahena, and Dilith Harishan from Dewundara.
Reports indicate that the suspects had illegally entered India, traveling from Jaffna to Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu.
Police confirmed that none of them possessed valid travel documents or passports at the time of arrest.
Further investigations revealed that Iresh Hansaka is wanted in connection with a major drug trafficking case, while Sugath Sameendu faces allegations related to murder and other serious crimes. Indian authorities have informed the Sri Lankan High Commission regarding the arrests, as per media reports.
