COLOMBO(News 1st); The strike launched by Supplementary Medical professionals in hospitals under the Western Provincial Council, in protest against a transfer order, has been temporarily suspended.
The Joint Federation of Supplementary Medical Professionals stated that the strike was put on hold following decisions made at a meeting held yesterday, chaired by the Western Provincial Chief Secretary.
It was agreed to hold discussions with the provincial health authorities to resolve the issues related to the transfer order. Until a final decision is reached, all officers will return to their regular duties.
All paramedical services will resume from 8:00 a.m.
The Joint Federation of Supplementary Medical Professionals also mentioned that patients who were unable to access services during the strike have been given the opportunity to return to the hospital at a convenient time to receive the necessary services.
