Ranil Admitted To Colombo NHSL ICU

COLOMBO(News 1st);Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Colombo National Hospital.

A hospital official confirmed his admission to the ICU was due to dehydration. 

Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe was arrested by officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday afternoon when he arrived at the CID to give a statement.

The summons was issued in connection with an ongoing investigation under the Public Property Act regarding an alleged private overseas trip undertaken using state funds.

Following court proceedings that went on until late night yesterday, Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe was remanded until August 26.

A tense situation arose near the court premises both during the hearing and while Ranil Wickremesinghe was being escorted out of the premises.

The former President was then transported to the Magazine prison.

Following a medical examination conducted at the time, the Prison Media Spokesperson stated that Ranil Wickremesinghe was admitted to the prison hospital on medical advice due to elevated blood pressure and blood sugar levels.

It is thereafter that the Former President was transferred to the Colombo National Hospital, taking into consideration his health condition.
