Over 2,000 Arrested in Maritime Drug Raids

COLOMBO(News 1st);During this year, 2,025 suspects involved in drug trafficking via sea routes have been arrested, according to Police Media Spokesperson ASP F.U. Wootler.

Speaking at a media briefing held at Police Headquarters, he revealed that 1,216 kilograms of ICE (methamphetamine), 937 kilograms of heroin, and 1,408 kilograms of hashish were seized during these operations. 

Additionally, a total of 124,000 kilograms of Kerala cannabis were confiscated.

These operations were jointly conducted by the Police, Tri-Forces, Police Narcotics Bureau, and the Police Special Task Force.
