Constitutional council to discuss AG's service extension

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Constitutional Council will consider the recommendation for a service extension for Attorney General Sanjay Rajaratnam, proposed by President Ranil Wickremesinghe today.

The Constitutional Council headed by the speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana is scheduled to meet today in this regard.

The President recently recommended a 6-month extension for Attorney General Sanjay Rajaratnam.

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said necessary steps have already been taken to obtain legal clarifications on the matter.

Attorney General Sanjay Rajaratnam is scheduled to retire on June 26.
