COLOMBO (News 1st); The Samagi Jana Balavegaya said disciplinary action will be instituted against Vadivel Suresh who supported the government resolution to remove Janaka Ratnayake from the post of Chairman and member of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka.

SJB General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara said the matter will be discussed on Thursday (25).

The resolution to remove Janaka Ratnayake from the post of Chairman and Member of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka was passed in Parliament on Wednesday (24).

SJB Badulla District MP Vadivel Suresh supported the resolution with the government.

The SJB General Secretary said the MPs decision to vote violated the decision taken by the party.

State Finance Minister Shehan Semasinghe said that a new Chairman to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka will be appointed after the President returns to the country.

He said the appointment needs to be approved by the Constitutional Council.

The Constitutional Council will meet on the 5th of June.
