Colombo (News 1st) - Oscar-winning Ke Huy Quan first shot to fame as a child actor when he played a pickpocket named Short Round opposite star Harrison Ford in the 1984 blockbuster Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, which was shot in Sri Lanka. It was directed by the multiple award-winning Steven Spielberg.

Born in Vietnam, Quan and his family were among the thousands of boat people who fled when a communist regime came to power. He went first to Hong Kong and then on to the United States.

Quan's acting career was not as stellar as The Temple of Doom indicated, and he was mostly forgotten until he won Best Supporting Actor for his role in Anything Anywhere All at Once, which swept the 2023 Academy Awards with seven accolades.
