Committees to probe price fluctuations & nutritional levels of goods

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Minister of Trade, Commerce and Food Security, Nalin Fernando says that plans are in place to appoint an Expert Committee to regulate the increasing prices of goods in the local market.

Another Committee will also be appointed to  monitor the food quality, the Minister said.

The committees will investigate food price fluctuations, food security and nutrition levels in line with the Consumer Affairs Authority, the Minister said.

Meanwhile, the Manning market Trading Association says that the wholesale prices of many types of vegetables have decreased.

Its organizer, Ajith Ipalawatta mentioned that the price of vegetables originating from the Central Province as well as the lowland areas have decreased.
