Authorities to discuss school operations

COLOMBO (News 1st); A special discussion is being held via Zoom this morning (18) headed by Minister of Education, Susil Premajayantha regarding the continuation of academic activities at school in the coming two weeks.

Education Secretary, Additional Secretaries to the Education Ministry, Provincial Secretaries of Education and Provincial Directors of Education are also scheduled to attend this meeting.

Accordingly, a final decision will be reached during the meeting on whether to conduct academic activities in person or online, considering the transportation issues owing to the current fuel crisis.

Previously, the Secretary to the Ministry of Education has stated before the Committee on Public Administration (COPA) that a system is being set up to attach children to the nearest school.

Moreover, the Ministry of Education too decided to facilitate the temporary reassignment of teachers to nearest schools to mitigate transportation issues.
