COLOMBO (News 1st); The Minister of Power and Energy, Kanchana Wijesekera says steps are being taken to inform general fuel consumers to register at the nearest filling station in their area.

He stated that, once registered, the authorities could determine the monthly requirement of fuel of each consumer, so that the relevant amount can be supplied.

Minister Kanchana Wijesekera also noted that a coupon system will be introduced for the issuance of fuel in the future to prioritize the transport and industrial sectors.

According to Minister Wijesekera, steps have been taken to appoint a representative of the Private Bus Association for each SLTB depot for the issuance of fuel as well.

He added that Private Bus Associations have been instructed to send the relevant representative to regularize the fuel supply to private buses through SLTB depots.
