COLOMBO (News 1st); Blocking all public roads and preventing movement is a disproportionate response to non violent protest, informs the Chairman of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka,  Supreme Court Judge (Rtd) Rohini Marasinghe

Furthermore, she emphasized that people have a right to protest, which is a fundamental right.

The HRCSL added that the Police can only take reasonable measures to regulate those protests.
