COLOMBO (News 1st); Special transport services are in place from Wednesday (13) for people traveling to rural areas for the New Year.
The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) said that it planned to operate an additional 200 bus services for rural areas.
The Director-General of the National Transport Commission (NTC), Nilan Mirenda also stated that special bus services have been planned for Wednesday (13) & Thursday (14).
However, the Department of Railways said that special trains will operate run on Wednesday (13) due to a shortage of passengers.
Superintendent of Railways, Gamini Seneviratne said that all long-distance and intercity trains are scheduled to operate according to the normal schedule.
He further said a special train was planned to operate on the mainline if the number of passengers increased.
