COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has warned that if the President and Government do not heed the calls of the people, the Opposition will be compelled to proceed with a motion of no-confidence as per the provisions of the constitution.
In response to the government members commenting to bring forth such a motion, the Opposition Leader noted that those in government should not forget that 6.9 Mn people voted for the President, and 6.8 Mn people voted for the government.
“Do not forget that. Decide for yourselves on how you will be able to return to the people and to your respective electorates,” he told the government side.
