COLOMBO (News 1st); The Government is moving forward in the right direction, says Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Participating at an event in Embilipitiya, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa responded to the allegations levelled against the Government.
Pointing out that the present Government faced various obstacles since they came into power, the Prime Minister said that the biggest challenge to the Government proved to be the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, it can be accepted that during the recent past, no good news regarding issues such as fuel, rice, and fertilizer were heard, he stated.
When certain policies were implemented, some political parties who identify themselves as radical groups urged farmers to stop farming, and instead urged farmers to take to the streets, the Prime Minister alleged, adding that they burned crops and destroyed bags of vegetables, and did not conduct any of their actions for the sake of the farmers, but for their own.
