Heavy showers above 100mm expected: Met Department

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Meteorological Department says that showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Northern, North-Central, Eastern and Uva provinces and in Matale district on Saturday (19).

Moreover, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya Galle and Matara districts during the evening or night. Fairly heavy showers about 75mm can be expected at some places.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts during the morning.

General public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. 

Moreover, the Naval and fishing communities have been told to remain vigilant with regard rough seas on Saturday (19).
