COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s main opposition faction, the Samagi Jana Balavegaya said it is ready to accept the Prime Minister’s challenge for an election.
On Wednesday (9), at the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna’s ‘Pudujana Rally’ in Anuradhapura, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa noted that the government does not make decisions in fear of losing an election.
Parliamentarian S. M. Marikkar, the spokesperson for the SJB told reporters on Thursday (10) that the SJB is ready to challenge the government to call for the delayed local government elections.
He further noted that the Samagi Jana Balavegaya will conduct a rally at the Salgado Stadium in Anuradhapura, the very location where the government held its ‘Podujana Rally’, next month.
