Man attempts to open fire at Ambulance in Panadura

COLOMBO (News 1st); A man had attempted to open fire at an ambulance in Panadura on Thursday (27) morning, said Police Spokesperson Attorney-at-Law SSP Nihal Thalduwa.

He said that the weapon used by the suspect had jammed.

According to Police, four people on two motorcycles had chased after an ambulance that was transferring an expectant mother from a private hospital to the Panadura Base Hospital

As the ambulance was entering the premises of the Panadura Base Hospital, one man among the four suspects who got off the motorcycle, had opened fire at the ambulance driver.

Since the attempts at shooting the ambulance driver failed, the suspects had fled the scene on motorcycles.

During investigations carried out following the incident, a pistol bullet was discovered near the Hospital Gate.

The Panadura-South Police and several other teams are conducting investigations to apprehend the suspects, Police Spokesperson SSP Nihal Thalduwa further added.
