1st Term of Schools for 2022 begins today

COLOMBO (News 1st): The 1st School Term of the year 2022 begins today (Jan. 1). The Ministry of Education has informed the education authorities to cover the subjects that were missed in the lower grades even though the students were admitted to the upper grades with the commencement of the new school term. "All Government and Private Schools will commence the 1st Term today, this is a victory of 4.3 million students of the country," Minister of Education Dinesh Gunawardena said. He emphasized that academic activities will be conducted with strict adherence to COVID-19 health guidelines. The 2021 Grade 05 Scholarship Examination, which was postponed due to the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic, will be held on the 21st of January. The 2021 GCE Advanced Level Examination will begin in the 1st week of February. Meanwhile, the All Ceylon Inter-Provincial School Children Transport Services Association on Sunday (Jan. 2), announced that the School van fares will increase by 20% with effect from Monday (Jan. 3).
