COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Power said there is a possibility that power cuts will not be experienced on Friday (10).
The spokesperson for the Ministry Sulakshana Jayawardena speaking to News 1st said that over the past week one-hour power cuts were experienced in several parts of the country, during the period of high demand after 6 PM.
He said that the situation arose due to a shortage of power generation and the high demand.
He added that 60% of the daily electricity requirement is generated from hydropower plants and the remainder is obtained from renewable energy plants and thermal power plants.
