Red alert issued for Bay of Bengal low pressure area

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Meteorology has issued a red alert for the low pressure area around the Bay of Bengal has developed into a depression. Accordingly, it is expected to reach the coast of Tamil Nadu from the north coast of Sri Lanka within the next 36 hours. The Meteorological Department states that heavy showers and winds can be expected in the sea areas due to the depression.
