COLOMBO (News 1st); Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa says that the Government is ready to listen to the teacher’s unions and urges the teachers to continue academic activities without disrupting the children’s education.
Issuing a release in commemoration of the Teacher’s Day today (06), the Prime Minister said that a special identity card has also been issued by the Education Ministry marking the event.
Commending the continuous academic activities conducted by the teachers during the pandemic, the Prime Minister stated that the responsibility of revival of the education sector after the pandemic lies in teacher’s hands.
Meanwhile, teachers islandwide launched a series of massive protests against the Government not resolving the issue of teachers’ salary anomalies.
