COLOMBO (News 1st); Samagi Jana Balawegaya Parliamentarian Rohana Bandara said that the purpose behind the visit of the Foreign Secretary of India is not in line with the Government's promises. He said this expressing his views on the official visit of the Indian Foreign Secretary, Harsh Vardhan Shringla to Sri Lanka. Pointing out that the Indian Foreign Secretary is in the country right now inspect the oil tank farm at the Trincomalee port, Bandara said that the main concern the people should have right now is the promise given by members of the ruling party during the elections, about not selling national assets to others. He further stated that Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila promised to reacquire national assets including the oil tanks which were given away by the previous Government before coming to power. " When we raise these concerns, he responded that they still believe in it and that they are trying to do what they promised during the elections. When the previous agreement expires, we would be able to gain control of these oil tanks. The agreement was going to end soon. But we have a serious suspicion about Udaya Gammanpila trying to extend this agreement for another 50 years." Bandara added.
