COLOMBO (News 1st): Former Parliamentarian and JVP member Nalin Hewage has challenged Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardena to make an example by living on Rs. 2,000. Speaking to the media, Hewage alleged that the Government and the Opposition are directly responsible for the economic downfall of the country. "It takes Rs. 6,000,000 to manage one Parliamentarian. So now if the Trade Minister says that Rs. 150 billion of a loss occurs per every day. The infamous sugar scam was also valued at the same amount. This reveals that the Government is full of corrupted officials. If we can put an end to such corruption, we can not only afford to lock the country down for one week, but for several months. " he emphasized. Hewage added that Minister of Trade Bandula Gunawardena needs to provide an example to the public on living on Rs. 2,000 for a period of 10 days. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8itTpuiXrk
