Justice Nawaz steps away from Azath's FR

COLOMBO (News 1st) Supreme Court Judge A. H. M. D. Nawaz on Tuesday (10) recused himself from considering the fundamental rights application filed by Ex-Governor of the Western Province Azath Salley.

The application was called up in the presence of Justice Murthu Fernando, S. Thurairajah, and A. H. M. D. Nawaz.

Justice Nawaz noted that he will step away from the application on personal grounds and the bench ordered for the matter to be called up again on the 27th of August.

Azath Salley has requested an order for his release after he was arrested under the provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act for a statement he made to the media on the 09th of March.
