COLOMBO(News 1st); Police stated that steps will be taken to question the three individuals including a police constable who were arrested under 72-hour detention orders on charges of harboring Ishara Sewwandi.
According to the police, the Colombo Crimes Division is leading the investigation into the case.
The arrests were made in connection with providing shelter to Ishara Sewwandi, the main suspect in the murder of Ganemulla Sanjeewa.
The three arrested individuals include a police constable, his mother-in-law, and a close associate of an organized criminal known as Mathugama Shan. They were taken into custody when the Colombo Crimes Division inspected locations where Sewwandi had been hiding following the murder.
Sewwandi reportedly told investigators that she had been in hiding for three months after the murder, staying in various locations in the Mathugama and Matara areas.
She further revealed that she eventually fled to India via a boat route.
