COLOMBO (News 1st); The Attorney General assured the Court of Appeal on Tuesday (20) that a progress report on the mysterious deaths of seven cow elephants inside the Thumbikulama Forest Reserve in Habarana, will be produced in two weeks.

The assurance was made when the application filed by the Centre for Environmental Justice (CAWR 26/2020) seeking an investigation into these deaths and to punish the perpetrators responsible for these deaths, was called up in the presence of Justices Mohamed Lafar and S. U. B. Karaliyadda.

The application will be called up once again on the 26th of September.

In 2019 seven carcasses of cow elephants, including a tusker were discovered in the forest reserves.
