2,250 Pregnant women had tested COVID positive in Sri Lanka so far - Family Health Bureau

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Ministry of Health says that 2,250 pregnant mothers were infected with the corona virus.

Director of the Family Health Bureau, Dr. Chitramali de Silva, a specialist doctor, said 13 pregnant mothers had died of COVID-19 so far in Sri Lanka.

She urged pregnant mothers to seek treatment as soon as possible if they experience symptoms of COVID-19.

The Ministry of Health has been requested to look into the possibility of administering the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to pregnant mothers, said Dr. Chitramali de Silva.

She said that currently pregnant mothers are being vaccinated with the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine.
