COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police arrested 157 people in the last 24 hours for breaking quarantine rules and regulations, Senior DIG, Ajith Rohana told News1st on Friday (16).
A total number of 50,854 suspects have been arrested thus far in connection with the same offenses from 30th October 2020, he added.
‘We are continuing with quarantine operations and a large number of suspects have been arrested in public places, supermarkets, and shopping malls as they were nabbed without face masks,’ the Senior DIG added.
74 individuals who were arrested at the entry and exit points of the Western Province, for trying to cross the provincial borders by violating the provincial restriction order were also admonished.
